The hemp industry has been waxing and waning for the last several years, gaining traction in some states and areas only to lose it in others.

One of its more recent milestones is USDA putting out its first hemp report. While this report is a strong start to the collection of data for the hemp industry, there are still many holes that need to be filled to keep hemp farming moving forward, calling for collaboration.

In February, the USDA released its first hemp report, which includes data on prices, acres and yields. The majority of the report’s data come from surveys sent to farmers, according to Joshua Bates, USDA’s hemp, soybean and oat statistician.
